Need a Ride Whitsundays is a home-grown booked-hire service similar to ride share companies such as UBER, Ola, Lyft etc. and comes to life because those big players don’t want to come to the Whitsundays. We want to be an alternative to, and aspire to provide a better service than the other transport choices available in Paradise. Our drivers are locals who love the Whitsundays and understand the challenges that both residents and visitors have faced getting to and from the many activities and venues on offer.
It’s a web-based service, so there’s no mucking around with Google or Apple Stores, and is completely free to join. Some of the features include: a live chat with your driver; adding way- points to your journey to pick up mates; see the estimated cost of the trip before choosing your driver; payment on completion and giving the driver a rating!The founder:
Darrell is the owner and operator of Airlie Beach Party Bus which came into existence because after five years he felt he could do the Taxi gig just as well, if not better as an independent operator. After he took a phone call at 0800 on New Year’s Day 2019 from the big boss in Mackay and given the ultimatum, it was time to sink or swim for ABPB. And it swam. Did a little dog-paddle through Covid, but survived!
Well, now on the brink of 2023 another service is needed. ABPB could have expanded naturally, but the conversation turned to something that was a hot topic on social media. A true alternative to the failing taxi service (due to many factors including Covid).
